Our mission:
‘Igniting and encouraging knowledge of the natural world and our place within that as humans’
Vision/Mission
Vision
Natuurmuseum Brabant offers thought-provoking exhibitions, activities and educational programmes focused on the visitors’ experience, both online as well as offline. We use our collection and expertise in such a way as to make this accessible and reachable for as many people as possible, both in the museum itself, digitally and on site. We strive for healthy business operations, whereby cultural entrepreneurship, collaboration and sustainability are our main pillars.
Love of the natural world
Collections and the accompanying knowledge are needed to make the exhibitions. The collection is therefore the museum’s backbone. New touches have been added to the objective and approach, the most significant was and is a healthy living environment.
The museum is aimed at a wide audience and has a low threshold. Families, children and groups of school pupils form a significant part of the target group. Besides in the visitor numbers that is obvious in the museum itself: the atmosphere is playful, cheerful and child friendly.
Collaboration
The museum highly values the collaborations with other natural history museums and visitor centres, with nature and environmental organisations and educational institutions. As an example, the museum has an incredibly special bond with the KNNV and Brabants Landschap nature conservation foundation. We worked closely with them to realise the new gallery about the countryside and region of Brabant, titled Your Brabant, My Brabant.
As well as its own income from tickets, the shop and museum café, the museum has an operational subsidy from the Municipality of Tilburg. As is the case for many museums, contributions from sponsors and funds are increasingly important. See on this website: subsidisers, funds and sponsors.
Natuurmuseum Brabant supports the Global Development Goals.
